Love is the sweetest poison…
The overall feeling this song gives me is a whimsical kind of love between ghosts (probably), so I had a lot of fun with these lyrics.

Fuling Cat Mark has produced several versions of this song, and the one I’ll be referencing for lyrics is called “鳴界 ver”, a pun mashup of 冥界 (Meikai, the Netherworld) and 鳴紗 (Meisha, the vocalist).

There is a 2013 version with slightly different lyrics that exists as well, but that album is currently out of stock and it’s hard to find good scans for LOL.

Only vocals and music arrangement themselves differ between the 2016 and 2020 versions. The printed lyrics are split up a little differently between albums as well (including a small typo in the 2020 version) but I wasn’t able to find any significant difference.

Misc. Notes:

• the words 幽世 and 現世 are, respectively “the world of the dead/ghosts” and “the world we see / the present world”
• 毒イチゴ (doku ichigo) is another name for ヘビイチゴ, a type of plant that produces red berries. the 毒 suggests that these fake strawberries are poisonous, but they are actually not…!
• the 地の雨 in the last stanza is curious.
  • chi no ame ga furu can be written as 血の雨が降る, a phrase that refers to raining blood, either from bloodshed or a sign of destruction (very far reach, but potentially small reference to yuyuko’s backstory)
  • there is also the word 地雨 (ji-ame), or rain that falls steadily/continuously over a period of time
  • with the context of the song + character in mind, my guess is the imagery is supposed to be a kind of rain that falls from the earth itself into a place further below… maybe red-colored…?
